Food for Thought
The Calgary Progressive Lifestyles Foundation is the largest provider in Alberta of social services to individuals with disabilities. Part of their mission includes finding meaningful employment for their clients, which lead them to open a small bistro. I was hired to help them expand their business by developing a catering service. Enter Food for Thought - good, healthy meals that create jobs and opportunities for people that usually don’t get the chance.
I was inspired by the drive to find meaning and progress in the basic skills many of us take for granted. This lead to a palette of primary colours and top-down illustrations of simple ingredients and dishes. The logo itself captures the spectrum of the business - utensils for food, a leaf for organic and healthy dishes, a sun for optimism, and people at the center of it all.
A large part of this project involved developing a promotional cookie box and package that would be hand-delivered to local businesses and leaders that Food for Thought wanted to earn business from. Unfortunately, just as all the collateral came together COVID hit, and the business launch was put on indefinite hold. It’s too bad, because not only was I proud of the work, but I was proud to be a part of the organization.
